It’s no secret that getting your greens in does a body good. Green vegetables, which are water-rich and packed with antioxidants, flood the body with raw nutrients to flush or eliminate toxins from the system while simultaneously improving hydration levels in the body. Green vegetables such as celery can also bolster immunity, enhance metabolism, reduce bloat, regulate blood pressure, and minimize inflammation.
Celery juice has recently taken its place in the spotlight–and on social media–as an Instagram-worthy superfood. However, celery juice has long been considered a powerful, healing tonic thanks to its anti-inflammatory, alkalizing properties and array of vitamins and minerals. The health benefits of celery juice include lowered blood pressure, improved gut health, decreased inflammation, improved alkaline and pH levels, and aiding in the elimination of waste. When juiced, the pulp (fiber) is removed, making celery’s healing benefits even more powerful.
Adaptogens are super herbs that help the body fight the adverse effects of stress hormones and nourish overworked adrenal glands. Adaptogens also have a powerful impact on the HPA axis (hypothalamic pituitary adrenal), the group of glands and hormones that regulate the response to stress, particularly adrenaline and cortisol, according to Olivia Esquivel, founder of Wildcrafted’s adaptogenic collection which is custom blended with non-toxic mushrooms.
Turmeric is an adaptogen that is also a great natural anti-inflammatory; its medicinal compound is curcumin, which is associated with reducing inflammation, relieving pain and arthritis, decreasing blood clots, aiding in digestion, and detoxifying the system. If you are looking for other options ginseng, ginger, and maca have great adaptogenic health benefits as well.
“Adaptogens go where they are needed: If you’re stressed out, they’ll help you relax and refocus. If you’re feeling lethargic, they’ll get you back to your optimal performance,” explains Esquivel. So, right now when we are all trying to keep our immune systems as strong as possible, it’s the perfect time to add an adaptogenic juice to our health regimens.
